However, there is one problem with Starbucks…

Before we go any further I just want to let you know that I am not trying to tell you to stop buying Starbucks, not at all!

All you have to do is sign up for your free Starbucks account here and then download the app on your phone.
Then just shop at Starbucks by paying through the Starbucks app and then you will start to earn stars which can be used to get free Starbucks drinks or food!
Previously, Starbucks had levels to their rewards program where you can be a green level or a gold member but it no longer works like this.
There is now a single-level membership on the Starbucks reward program where you earn stars when you spend money at Starbucks and then use these stars for free things at Starbucks.
For each $1 you spend at Starbucks you will earn two stars. Here is a breakdown of what a certain amount of stars can get you:
- 25 Stars – Customized drinks (add an espresso shot or flavored syrup)
- 50 Stars – Free Starbucks hot coffee, hot tea, or select bakery items
- 150 Stars – Handmade drinks, hot breakfast items, or parfaits
- 250 Stars – Free lunch sandwiches, protein box, or salad
- 400 Stars – Take home packaged coffee or select merchandise

If you don’t want to use the Starbucks app but you still want to know how to get free Starbucks coffee then you should definitely use cashback apps!
With cashback apps you can make money for your everyday purchases that you can then use to get Starbucks.
You can essentially get free Starbucks drinks from using money you wouldn’t have had anyway!
The two cashback apps I highly recommend using are Drop and Dosh.
These cashback apps will give you money automatically for simply spending like you normally would which will allow you get free Starbucks easily!

Drop
An amazing app that will give you cash back for spending money at Starbucks or at other popular stores is Drop.
All you have to do is sign up for your free Drop account here and you will start racking up points which you can then trade-in for a free Starbucks gift card.
When you sign up to Drop you will need to select two power offers which are two stores that will automatically give you points for shopping in these stores.
All other stores will have to be activated in Drop by simply clicking the add offer option as shown below and shopping through the Drop app:
Drop works by linking your bank account to the app and then shopping with the debit cards or credit cards linked to your account.
By default, Starbucks gift cards and other awesome gift cards are locked in Drop and have to be unlocked by shopping through the Drop app.
This is the biggest downside to Drop but it is easy to do and you can unlock the Starbucks gift cards quickly by shopping for things you need through the Drop app!
Once you get enough Drop points you can then redeem it for a Starbucks gift card that you can use to get free Starbucks drinks.
You will essentially get free Starbucks for shopping for things you would have bought anyway with Drop!

One of the best and personally one of my favorite cash back apps is Dosh!

For online purchases, you will have to shop through the Dosh app to get your cashback.

Easy right? Of course, it is!
Starbucks will give you a free Starbucks drink, food item, or ready-to-drink item on your birthday.
You have to be a Starbucks rewards member for at least 7 days before your birthday and you have to earn at least one star on the app to be eligible for the free birthday drink at Starbucks.
Once this is done you will receive an email 2 days before your birthday with a reminder about the offer.
On your birthday you just have to go into a Starbucks and show them the offer in the Starbucks app and you will get a free Starbucks drink or another menu item.
Starbucks states that you are eligible for almost anything on the menu but it might vary from store to store.
Obviously, this is a once-in-a-year deal but hey free stuff is free stuff so take it when you can get it!
Promotions
There are times when Starbucks will have a promotion where you can get a free item when you buy something else or a buy one get one free type of deal.
Starbucks doesn’t have these promotions often so whenever you see them having these promotions make sure you get your free Starbucks drinks when you can!
Just make sure you are a rewards member so you can be notified when these promotional deals spring up.
Also, make sure the notifications are turned on your phone for the Starbucks app, it would suck to miss out on some free Starbucks coffee!
Cashback Credit Cards
Another super-easy way but not my favorite way is to use cashback credit cards when shopping to build up cash to be used in places like Starbucks.
This is similar to Drop and Dosh but instead of using an app and remembering to activate offers at times, it is all automatic and easy with cashback credit cards.
But…
There are those people that get carried away and get charged interest which completely wipes away the cashback benefits.
If you are unable to pay off your credit card each and every month before interest accrues then this tip is not for you.
Also, be aware of credit cards with annual fees which are not really good options.
If you are a smart shopper and you are good at paying bills on time then this can be a great way to get free Starbucks drinks!
In fact…
Starbucks has its own credit card now that you can use to rack up stars on any purchase!
Starbucks Credit Card
The Starbucks credit card is a Visa card that can be used anywhere that accepts Visa, not just Starbucks.
Starbucks offers a big bonus for using their credit card which is 6,500 stars if you spend $500 anywhere within the first 3 months of opening the card!
You will also get 300 stars when you use the Starbucks card to fund your Starbucks card.
Obviously, you’ll need a Starbucks rewards account for the stars, if you don’t have one already you will get one when you sign up for the Starbucks credit card.
All these stars mean a lot of free drinks from Starbucks for you!
The big downside to the Starbucks card is that you will have to pay a $49 annual fee to keep the card.
You will also get free Starbucks stars when you use the card for your everyday purchases. Here is the breakdown:
- 1 star for every $2 you spend at grocery stores, commute & transit, internet, cable, and phone services.
- 3 stars for every $1 you spend at Starbucks.
- 1 star for every $4 you spend everywhere else.
With the Starbucks credit card, you can rack up a lot of free Starbucks stars really quickly which means a lot of free Starbucks drinks!
But…
The Starbucks card is not worth it if you are unable to pay off the balance before interest accrues and with the annual fee, you have to be at Starbucks a lot for it to be worth it.
If you really want to know how to get free Starbucks then cashback credit cards can be worth it but you have to make sure you have good spending habits before taking this step.
Conclusion
If you love Starbucks and it gets you through your day, then there is no need to cut it out entirely; you just need to learn how to save money on Starbucks and even get free Starbucks drinks!
