If you are not sure what a bullet journal is, let’s continue…
I have been coming across this bullet journal thing recently and some people swear this is a life changer in regards to how they organize their life.
So…
I decided to look into this bullet journal thing to see what benefits it can offer and why people should use it.
But, before we get to this and before we get to the free bullet journal printables let’s go over what a bullet journal is.
What Is A Bullet Journal?
A bullet journal is a planner that is used to keep track of pretty much everything. It’s used as a way to simplify and organize your life.
The idea of the bullet journal was created by Ryder Carroll, you can read more about him and his creation here.
According to Ryder, the bullet journal is a way to “track the past, organize the present, and plan for the future”
Okay, so what the heck does this mean?
Trust me, I know how you feel. I was super confused about what a bullet journal is. Is it a to-do list? A diary type of thingy? A log to track your day?
Well, it’s really all of the above. While you don’t have to use it for all these purposes, you certainly can!
I highly recommend you watch this short youtube video from Ryder explaining the bullet journal and what it is used for.
So…
In the simplest terms, a bullet journal is an organized book that consists of your past notes, your current activities, and your future goals.
The million-dollar question is, why even start a bullet journal? I mean our phones have apps to remind us of certain things, track certain things, and help us plan things.
So why start a bullet journal?
While a bullet journal is not for everyone, it has helped many people stay more organized by placing all the information they need in a portable notebook that they can take anywhere.
The other thing is that you can design it to your liking, unlike apps where you are unable to change the way it works.
Your bullet journal is used as an extension of your mind and you should create it to be just that.
How To Set Up A Bullet Journal
To start you need to get bullet journal supplies which include a journal (of course right?). Pretty much any journal will do but you should aim for one that is light and has good quality because you will be using it and carrying it around a lot.
Then, of course, you have to get your pens to write with. Some people go crazy and buy expensive pens to use but it’s definitely not necessary.
Any pen can work with your bullet journal, so check out Amazon and pick up some pens that are comfortable and easy to write with.
Now you have to create a key, which is used to simply describe the entries you put in your journal.
For example, a filled-in circle can mean a completed task and an empty circle means an uncompleted task. You get the point.
Since we have to get to the awesome free bullet journal printables, I won’t go over much about designing your bullet journal.
If you would like to know more about designing your key page in your bullet journal check out this awesome post by Little Coffee Fox here.
Now you need to create your index page (basically your table of contents) and then your other pages like your future log, monthly tasks, daily tasks, etc…
This can get pretty in-depth so if you are looking for a complete guide on how to set up your bullet journal then I recommend checking out this guide from The Lazy Genius Collective.
Okay, now that you have an understanding of what a bullet journal is and you are excited to start designing your bullet journal let’s get into these free bullet journal printables to add to your bullet journal!
