There are many apps you can use to sell your clothes online but some are definitely better than others.

This is why I compiled a list of the best apps you can use right now to sell your old clothes easily for some extra money!

Selling used clothes is easier nowadays than it has ever been and it is a nice way to make some extra money on the side.

This list includes some of my favorite reselling apps and platforms and their pros and cons.

Let’s get straight into the best apps to sell clothes online…

eBay (Champion for Selling Used Items)

Even though it has been around for a very long time, there is still a reason why eBay is so well regarded and prominent when it comes to selling clothes.

Its position at the top of the food pyramid means that there are millions of people using the app/platform to sell and buy anything.  

This means that it is easier to reach a highly targeted group of people looking to buy your things.

eBay gives users 200 – 250 free listings every month, so if you are not selling a bunch of clothes there is essentially no listing fees. 

There is a 10% fee for the total selling price of items up to $750.

You can also use the auction option if you want buyers to bid on your items which can get you more money than you aimed for!

Pros

• This is a well-known and well-established brand.
• Get more money using the auction option.
• Free listings every month.

Cons

• Since it’s a popular platform, there is a lot of competition.
• Fees can be high if you are selling in bulk.

Mercari (The Newcomer)

Mercari similar to eBay is not just used for selling clothes. It is used to sell almost any used items. Selling is as easy as taking a picture, adding a description and price.

Listings are free but there is a 10% fee on the total cost of the transaction and a 2.9% + $0.30 fee for payment processing. 

The money will be available in your account once the transaction is complete.

The money can be withdrawn into your bank account or it can be used to buy other things on Mercari.

Once the item has been sold, Mercari sends you a free shipping label to ship out your package.

Pros 

• You get to list your items for completely free.
• There are many buyers so you have a high chance of selling your clothes.
• Has a smart pricing feature and the ability to set selling goals.

Cons

• Shipping is a bit confusing and annoying.
• Their website is not as good as the app.

Poshmark (A Crowd Favorite)

Poshmark is the go-to place to sell fashionable clothes. It is one of the best apps to sell clothes online due to how easy it is to use. 

When I have used it, I was able to get posted and start selling in just a couple of minutes.

It is super quick and easy to create a listing with pictures!

Once the items have been sold, you will get a pre-paid label from Poshmark. This label also tracks the packages and acts as insurance in case something happens to the items.

Sellers are usually protected in case something happens to the package and shipping is also free. 

Another bonus is that it comes in with a built-in calculator that lets you know how much profit you are going to make when fees are included.

Sellers can also trade for things in their closets, or make offers to sellers.

There are of course fees attached to the platform. The fee is $2.95 for items under $15. It is 20% for items over $15.

Pros 

• Shipping is a breeze.
• It’s one of the most popular selling apps so there are many buyers.
• There is a calculator built into the app that allows you to see how much profit you gain instantly. Allowing you to adjust your prices to get the best outcomes.

Cons

• Fees are pretty high at 20% per sale.
• Have to be very active on the app to make sales.

Depop (The Underdog On The Come Up)

Depop is the platform for all my influencers, semi-influencers, wannabe influencers, and creatives alike. 

It is modeled closely after Instagram with its layout and its follow feature which allows some sellers to gain large audiences.

It is fairly easy to use and they utilize PayPal to process transactions which makes getting paid a breeze.

They will take 10% of your total sales (including shipping). So, it is a fairly low fee structure for selling your clothes.

However, you are also charged a payment processing fee of 3.49% + $0.49 if you are in the U.S and 2.9% + €0.30 if you are in the U.K.

Pros

• Decent fees compared to other selling apps. 
• It is extremely easy to use.

Cons

• A lot of saturation with people selling things directly from China.

Vinted (The Accessibility Queen)

For all fellow vintage connoisseurs, Vinted is the promised land. Sellers are encouraged to have multiple listings as this will increase their chance of selling items.

Similar to Poshmark, buyers and sellers can interact and ask each other questions. They can also make offers for prices lower than those listed.

Once the order has been placed, sellers have five days to ship out the items. Once delivery has occurred, the payment is added to your Vinted account.

This is a super affordable app and profitable for the seller because listing and selling are free. It is the buyer who has to pay fees.

Pros

• Zero seller fees!
• Buying, selling, and swapping items is extremely easy.
• Free listings and no limits on the number of listings.

Cons

• This is a fairly new app that is not that well known.

ThredUp (Goodwill Made Digital)

ThredUp essentially acts as an online version of Goodwill. If you have a bunch of clothes that you are no longer using then ThredUp is an easy choice.

The company sends you a cleanout kit, which you fill to the brink with things that you want to get rid of.

After your clothes have been shipped off, they eventually arrive at the ThredUp office where someone will sort through your things and choose the ones they want and reject the ones they don’t.

For these items that they accept they will pay you.

The company makes it easy for you because they take care of all the logistics. They take pictures of the items, list them, market them, and ship them to their very large customer base.

Now, there are some downsides to using the platform. ThredUp only accepts 40% of items in each of the packages that they receive.

There are more likely to accept new, barely used, or new clothes.

If you want the clothes that they didn’t accept back, you’ll have to pay them $10.99.

The website also eats a large portion of your profit margins and the payout you receive ranges greatly and could even be as little as 5%.

It is best for those looking to sell a large number of high-quality clothes without putting in much effort.

Pros 

• You can sell your clothes in bulk and they handle everything if your items are accepted.
• Quick and easy way to get rid of your old clothes for some cash.

Cons

• If your items are not accepted you have to pay the shipping to get them back.
• The profits can also be very low.

Tradesy (The High-End Platform)

If you have a lot of designer items that you want to sell then Tradesy is a great option. It allows you to sell your used designer clothes. 

It is a little bit more involved. In order to sell your items, you have to sign up for the platform, upload the pictures you took yourself, and add product details for the listings.

You are in charge of handling shipping, but Tradesy does make it easier by providing a prepaid shipping label for sellers.

You are also given the discretion of setting your fees as high or as low as you want. Because there are no listing fees, there is no risk if you are unable to sell your items.

An additional bonus is that Tradesy handles all returns on your items.

There is a fee of $7.50 for items less than $50

However, the real kicker is that there is a hefty 19.8% commission fee for those items that are $50+. 

The company can also hold your earnings for up to 21 days after delivery. Nevertheless, this is certainly one of the best higher-end resell marketplaces.

Pros 

• Listing your designer items is super easy and also free.
• Many buyers so items can sell fast.

Cons

• High fees.
• The payout time is pretty long.
• Customer service can be improved.

The RealReal (Sell Your Designer Clothes Online)

Another awesome app that you can use to sell used clothes online (or new) is The RealReal.

The RealReal is a selling app focused on designer clothing and accessories, like Tradesy.

However, it is important to note that The RealReal is a consignment service which means that they set the price on your items, not you.

They have a team of experts that assess the value of your item to make sure that you are getting the highest price for the item!

This can be a good thing because your item can be valued for more than what you thought but it can also be bad because the item can be valued for lower than what you expected.

The fees are pretty confusing on The RealReal because it depends on the type of item, you can check out their commission chart here.

If you don’t choose to sell your item on The RealReal and want it back then you will have to pay a $15 fee if you want it to be returned within 30 days of acceptance but it’s free after 30 days.

Pros

• Really easy to sign up and use.
• Hands-off selling process.
• Many categories to sell items

Cons

• The fee structure is confusing and usually high.
• Mostly limited to higher-end products.

Vestiaire Collective (Turn Your Clothes Into Cash)

One of the best apps to sell clothes online is Vestiaire Collective.

Vestiaire Collective is an awesome app that lets you sell used clothes and accessories to over 5 million users!

However, Vestiaire Collective is used mostly for higher-end brands that are on the pricier end.

Most buyers on Vestiare Collective are looking for discounted designer items or unique items so just keep this in mind!

Signing up for a Vestiaire Collective account is free and shipping is also free but there are other fees.

You will have to pay a commission to Vestiaire Collective for selling your clothes on their platform and their fees are a bit strange.

For items between $80 and $16,500, you will have to pay a 12% fee, for items below $80 you pay a fixed $10 fee, and for items priced at $16,500 or more you will have a fixed fee of $2,000. See the full commission breakdown here.

As you can see, it’s not worth it at all to sell cheaper items on Vestiaire Collective due to the high fees but higher-end items are perfect to sell on Vestiaire Collective.

Pros

• The authenticity of items is verified to add trustworthiness to buyers.
• Easy to use.
• Many buyers so your items can sell quickly

Cons

• The fee structure is confusing and can be too high.
• Used mostly for designer items.

Flyp (Sell Your Clothes Online Easily)

One of the bad things about most selling apps is that it is a lot of work to sell your clothes.

I mean, it is easy to list the items but you might have to keep sharing your listings and responding to potential buyers’ questions, shipping out items, etc…

It can be a real hassle but that’s where Flyp comes in…

Flyp is an awesome app that connects you with top sellers and they will do all the selling for you for a commission.

All you need to do is set up a free account and then take pictures of all the clothes and accessories you want to sell to create a “lot”.

You will then be connected with a pro seller that prices your items and sets their commission rate for selling your items, you can either accept or reject their offer.

If you do accept it then Flyp will send you a shipping label to ship out your items to the seller and that’s it!

The seller will then do all the work and sell your items for you on other marketplaces like Poshmark, Mercari, eBay, etc… and you will get paid when an item sells.

You will also have to pay a 5% fee to Flyp for using their platform.

The seller commission is usually high, most likely around 40 – 60% since they have to pay fees on other platforms to sell your clothes.

Flyp is great because it’s so easy to sell your clothes online but they are pricey so make sure they are the right platform for you.

Pros

• Extremely easy to use.
• Partner with professional sellers.
• Hands-off selling.

Cons

• Fees are on the high side.

Kidizen (Sell Children Clothes Online)

The big downside to most selling apps is that they are geared towards adults and adult clothing, but what about kid clothes?

Kidizen is one of the best apps to sell kids’ clothes online and it’s super easy to use!

Unlike adults, kids are constantly growing and this means that they outgrow their clothes super fast and you are left with a bunch of clothes that don’t fit them anymore.

So, why not sell them for some extra cash?!

All you have to do is sign up for a free Kidizen account and then set up a shop where you list all of your items to sell.

Then people will browse your shop and purchase any items that they want or need.

Of course, Kidizen has fees for using their platform. You will have to pay an 18% fee + %0.50 for each item you sell on Kidizen. 

Plus, you have to pay for shipping yourself so it can definitely add up.

You can also choose to work with style scouts on Kidizen and let them sell the items for you if you don’t have time to do it yourself.

However, this does cost more than selling on your own, you will have to pay a 40% commission fee to the style scout for selling and shipping the items for you.

It’s not that bad if you have no time to do this yourself! If you have old children’s clothes then Kidizen is one of the best apps to sell clothes online.

• Listings are completely free.
• Great platform to sell unused baby or children items.

Cons

• Fees are pretty high.
• Have to pay for shipping.

I could have listed many more platforms on this list but other platforms out there aren’t that great, these platforms are currently the top apps to use.
