Best Way To Convert A Visa Gift Card To Cash

The best way to convert Visa gift cards to cash fast is to use Prepaid2Cash.

With Prepaid2Cash you can sell your Visa gift card easily using their website or app!

All you need to do is go onto the Prepaid2Cash website or app then choose to sell your gift card and use their calculator to find how much you can get for your gift card.

You can then choose to sell the gift card for the price they offer or not.

However, you will have to pay a fee to sell your gift cards on Prepaid2Cash (more on this soon) but as you will see you’ll have to pay a fee to exchange Visa gift cards for cash regardless of the platform you use.

Prepaid2Cash is great because it’s extremely easy to use and you get to exchange your Visa gift cards for cash instantly so I highly recommend checking it out!

Should You Convert Visa Gift Cards To Cash?

Should You Convert Visa Gift Cards To Cash

You should ask yourself whether you should even convert your Visa gift card to cash or not.

In many cases, Visa gift cards are just as good as cash because any store that accepts debit or credit cards most likely accepts Visa gift cards as well.

So… it might not be worth it to convert Visa gift cards to cash because most of the time when you convert the gift card, you will get less in cash than the gift card is worth.

A few reasons why you would exchange a Visa gift card for cash are if the gift card is expiring or if you want to save the money instead of spending it, and if you desperately need hard cash.

With that said, let’s check out the best ways you can convert your Visa gift cards to cash.

Easiest Ways To Convert Visa Gift Cards

We will go over the easiest methods that you can use to get cash from your Visa gift cards.

    Let’s get to it…

    Sell Your Gift Cards

The best way you can convert a Visa gift card to cash is to simply sell your gift cards through an online service.

However, as mentioned before there will be a fee for selling your gift cards which will leave you with less cash than the gift card is worth so keep this in mind.

Here are the best services you can use to do this…

    Using Raise

Use Raise to exchange Visa gift cards to cash

One of the best platforms that you can use to sell your Visa gift card for cash is Raise.

Raise is a popular and trustworthy platform that has been around for years and they have a website and app you can use.

All you have to do is sign up for a free Raise account and then list your gift card to be sold on their marketplace.

Users on the platform can then buy the gift card from you and you’ll get paid via PayPal, check, or direct deposit to your bank account!

You can even list partially used gift cards on Raise!

However, the big downside to Raise is that they will take 15% of the cut as their fee which is a pretty hefty fee.

Raise is great to use if you need cash quickly so I recommend checking them out!

    Prepaid2Cash Service

    Use Prepaid2Cash

Another great platform that you can use to exchange your Visa gift cards for cash is Prepaid2Cash.

Prepaid2Cash is really easy to use, you just need to download the app on your phone, then scan the gift card and get paid in cash!

You can sign up for a free Prepaid2Cash account and convert your Visa gift cards to cash easily.

By selling your gift cards on Prepaid2Cash you can cash out via check or direct deposit.

However, you will have to pay fees for using Prepaid2Cash to sell your gift cards.

You will have to pay a 7.5% processing fee as well as a $1.50 fee for direct deposit or a $2.50 fee for a mailed check.

So, yes, the fees do add up, but if you need cash right away, I recommend using Prepaid2Cash.

Super Money Tip: There are many other gift card exchange platforms that claim to give you cash for Visa gift cards but many are scams or don’t work properly.

Raise and Prepaid2Cash are two trustworthy platforms to use, yes they have pretty high fees but you’ll be sure to get your cash.

If you do choose to go with another platform then be very careful and make sure the platform is legit.

Use The Gift Card To Pay Your Bills

Another great way to use your Visa gift cards is to use them to pay your bills.

Paying off debt is always a good thing to do so if you have Visa gift cards then I recommend using them to pay off bills.

Now, not every bill will let you pay with Visa gift cards but many do.

Most retailers will accept Visa gift cards for bill payments.

While this method is not converting the gift cards directly to cash it’s essentially using it as cash for a good reason.

I highly recommend using your Visa gift cards to pay towards bills if possible.

    Transfer The Amount To PayPal

Transfer Visa gift card to cash

A great way to convert your Visa gift card to cash is to use PayPal to transfer the money.

You can add Visa gift cards to PayPal and then use the balance as cash at retailers that accept PayPal as payment.

By adding your Visa gift card to PayPal you can also withdraw the cash to your bank account but this usually involves a fee that can go up to 3%.

It’s one of the easiest methods to use to exchange Visa gift cards for cash if you have a PayPal account so definitely consider using this method.

    Transfer The Amount To Venmo

Use Venmo to liquidate Visa gift card

Similar to the PayPal option, you can also exchange your Visa gift card for cash using Venmo.

If you have a Venmo account then you can add your Visa gift card to your Venmo balance and either use it as cash through Venmo or transfer the cash to your bank account.

In fact, using Venmo is better than PayPal when cashing out to your bank account because with Venmo you don’t have to pay fees as you do with PayPal!

Just add your Visa gift cards to Venmo and then transfer the balance to your bank account, it’s that easy.

This is one of my favorite methods to use to exchange Visa gift cards for cash! You do need a Venmo account but it’s free so definitely consider using this method.

Use Gift Card Exchange Kiosks To Get Cash

Another way you can exchange gift cards for cash is to use gift card exchange kiosks.

Gift card exchange kiosks are machines that you can find in grocery stores or retail stores that will give you cash for your gift cards.

All you need to do is insert your gift card into the machine and the machine will tell you how much cash you can get for the gift card and if you accept the offer you will be given a cash voucher.

You just need to take this voucher to the cashier to redeem your cash!

However, there are a few downsides to this method…

One big downside is that you will get less in cash than the gift cards are worth due to fees and these fees are pretty hefty, sometimes more than using online services.

Two other downsides are that these machines are not easy to come by and not all let you exchange gift cards for cash, many just let you swap to a different gift card or store credit.

So, it’s not the best method out there to exchange Visa gift cards for cash but it’s definitely an option to consider if you need cash quickly.

Buy And Re-Sell Items For Cash

A pretty strange and not a direct way to get cash for Visa gift cards is to buy and resell items.

You can use your Visa gift cards to buy items and then resell those items on places like eBay, Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp, etc…

It’s not an easy way to get cash from Visa gift cards but it’s a method that can work for you.

    And get this…

You can even get more cash than what the gift card is worth! Here’s how…

Find items that are on sale and then resell them at full price or you can find limited edition items and re-sell them higher for what you paid for.

This way you can get a profit instead of taking a loss as you will with other methods on this list!

Even though this method requires more work, it’s a method that I highly consider using.

Just Stick With The Gift Card

    Using a Visa gift card

I know… I know… this method doesn’t tell you how to liquidate Visa gift cards to cash but just hear me out…

Visa gift cards are as good as cash and most retailers accept them as payment so why not just keep your Visa gift card instead of exchanging it for cash.

As you can see by the previous methods, you will get less in cash than the Visa gift card is worth so it might be better just to keep the Visa gift card rather than liquidating it.

So, I know it’s probably not something you want to hear in this post on converting Visa gift cards to cash but it’s honestly one of the best options to consider to keep the value of the gift card.

Simply Sell The Card To A Friend

A simple way to convert a Visa gift card to cash is to sell it to a friend.

You can let your friends know that you have a Visa gift card that you would like to trade for cash and hopefully they take the deal.

It’s a great way to trade your gift card for cash and you can even get full price for the gift card!

Sometimes you will need to offer a discount so your friends have an incentive to take the deal.

It’s an easy way to exchange Visa gift cards for cash but it’s not a method you can count on all the time.

Buy Items With The Card And Return Them

A really unconventional and you can say unethical way to convert Visa gift cards to cash is to buy and return items.

For example, you can use the Visa gift card to purchase an item at a store and then return the item and get cash in return.

This takes a lot more work because you have to find stores that will actually let you do this since most stores will just give you store credit.

I don’t recommend using this method first, it’s more of a last resort method.

As I said, this method is a bit unethical so be careful with this one.

    Utilize Square

    Use Square to exchange Visa

The last method that you can use to convert a Visa gift card to cash is using a platform called Square.

Square is a payment processor that is used by businesses to accept payments but you can use it as an individual to get cash from your Visa gift cards.

All you need to do is sign up for a Square account and then add your gift cards to your account and you can then transfer the balance to your bank account.

However, as you guessed it… there are fees that you will need to pay. If you do the conversion manually through the Square website you’ll have to pay a 3.5% fee plus a $0.15 transaction fee.

If you purchase a Square reader and use it to convert the gift card you will drop the fee to 2.75%.

The big downside to this method is that Square has been putting a stop to this method so it might work for some Visa gift cards and not others.

So, it’s not the first method you should use but it’s worth trying if you really want cash from your Visa gift cards.

    Bonus Methods

Now let’s go over some other ways that you should consider using if you want to get rid of your Visa gift cards.

These methods won’t give you cash for Visa gift cards but it’s a really good way to use your Visa gift cards so let’s check them out…

    Buy Discounted Gift Cards

    CardCash buy discounted gift cards

A really great way to use your unwanted Visa gift cards is to trade them for discounted gift cards.

Platforms like CardCash will let you exchange your gift cards for other gift cards or you can just use your Visa gift card to purchase other gift cards.

Many platforms like Raise and CardCash offer discounted gift cards that you can buy which is great, let me explain…

Let’s say you shop at Target a lot, you can go on Raise and you can find discounted Target gift cards, for example, you can purchase a $50 Target gift card for $45.

So, if you have a $50 Visa gift card you can use it to purchase the $50 gift card for $45 which leaves you with a Target gift card worth $50 and $5 left on your Visa gift card.

This means that you just turned your $50 into $55! It’s not much but it’s a profit!

I highly recommend using this method if you don’t need cash because instead of losing money to fees you can actually turn a profit!

    Re-Gift Your Gift Cards

If you don’t want your Visa gift cards then why not re-gift them?

While this method won’t give you cash, it will save you money from buying gifts for people.

You can simply re-gift the gift cards and save yourself money so it’s worth considering this option.

    Add To Your Amazon Balance

Add your Visa gift card to your Amazon account

If you use Amazon as many people do then consider adding your Visa gift cards to your Amazon account.

Since Visa gift cards are pretty much as good as cash, you can use them to purchase items on Amazon when you add the gift cards to your Amazon balance.

It’s a really simple way to use your Visa gift cards!

If you need to purchase items on Amazon then definitely consider adding your Visa gift cards to your Amazon account to use the money.
